Acute hospital-associated (HA) venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major preventable, under-diagnosed and serious health complication that has a major impact on patient outcomes while financially straining the nation.

This presentation will share specific methods, metrics, and collaboration processes that led to clinical and financial success during an assessment and evaluation for new compression therapy pumps and sleeves.

With pay for performance reimbursement models determining future payments, hospital acquired conditions such as VTE represent large opportunities for improvement to slow declining margins while enhancing quality of care. These successful techniques can be replicated by other Hospitals when evaluating other products across all categories.

Attendees can expect to learn the following:

1. Describe key components of a multi-disciplinary decision-making process to select a supplier and product that balances clinical and financial needs of hospital, based on our experience with a DVT/Compression sleeve RFP process.

2. Highlight decision-making/ analytical tools that can be customized and utilized in strategic sourcing events across multiple categories.

3. Identify both clinical and supply chain factors which may impact patient outcomes relating to DVT/ Compression sleeve mechanical therapy.
