SEPAC has had several recent speakers describe the interconnectedness between Supply Chain and other clinical and non-clinical departments across health systems. Patient Safety is no different. The actions and interactions between Supply Chain and Patient Safety play a critical role in hospitals and help determine whether the ship stays afloat.

In this presentation, an experienced infection preventionist will present on those connections and the larger picture of how they tie into hospitals’ goals and objectives. A review of the impacts and long-term changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic will also be presented.

Learning Objectives:

1.       Review the interconnectedness of Supply Chain and Patient Safety.

2.       Understand the importance of Patient Safety in the overall operations of health systems.

3.       Review the impact of COVID-19 on Patient Safety departments and describe how departments have learned and implemented lessons from the pandemic.
